Helping Hailey

This is Hailey. Hailey is a precious little girl who lives in an orphanage in China.

She is the most beautiful little girl, don't you think?

So so very precious!
Who would not want to look at this sweet little face forever?

Who would not want to go and rescue this little princess from the life she is living?

Life without a family of her own...

...without parents who will cherish and love
her unconditionally.

...without siblings to play with and grow up with.

Oh,I bet Hailey is just a character!

Her profile says she has a "lovely, cheeky personality".  It also says she loves music and dance.  She likes to pat and comfort the babies, imitating the adults in nurturing them.

She likes to play with the other children, too, and is well loved by the orphanage staff.

Hailey just turned five on July 7th.  She has been in an orphanage since she was abandoned at the age of 8 months.  I have chosen to believe that maybe she lived those first 8 months cherished and loved by her birth family.  Maybe it was when she was 8 months old that they found out she had Down syndrome, and had to give her up.  Maybe the reason was that she needed more medical care then they were able to provide.

There are a bunch of possible reasons, but it really doesn't matter at this point, does it?

 Hailey needs a family NOW.

I am trying to help raise $5000 that will go toward Hailey's adoption grant.  It would help her future family with the expensive cost of adopting her.  Every little bit helps -- even just $5.

Hailey only has $1296.00 in her adoption grant right now.  The 5/5/5 goal was to raise $5000 by July 31st.  There are only 6 days left.

Won't you help raise the ransom for this little girl?  Wouldn't it be awesome if we could raise that amount of money in 6 days.  My blog's sitemeter predicts 600-700 visits to my blog in the next week.  If everyone who reads this will just donate $5, that would be about $3000 - $3500 dollars raised!!!  Which is just about the exact amount needed for Hailey to meet her 5/5/5 goal!

With God all things are possible!!

You can click on any of Hailey's pictures or here, which will take you to her Reece's Rainbow page where you can donate any amount you wish.

Remember, it is tax deductible and even better, you are helping to save the life of an orphan.

You can also go here to donate, and receive a chance to win a beautiful Blossom collectors doll.  It is really cute!!

Almost as cute and adorable as Hailey herself.

Road Trip pt 4–Test Results

I realized I hadn’t posted an update or the results of Madalyn’s sleep study. After her awful experience at the study, things got back to “normal” pretty quickly once we got back home. (Insert “crazy busy life” in place of normal). Ha!

After we left the hospital, we went and picked up Samuel from Jordan’s place, took a couple pics and headed home.

Madalyn and Jordan are almost exactly 19 years apart. It always amazes me that I was giving birth to my daughter almost 19 years to the day after I gave birth to Jordan. Not exciting to all of you I'm sure, but I think its cool.

Poor Madalyn was so tired after her sleepless night in Denver and driving 7 hours back home that morning, that she slept in til nearly 10 AM the next day. And this is the girl who wakes up religiously at 6:30 every morning. Poor little ladybug.
There have been some slight changes around here because of the results of the swallow and sleep studies.

Because Madalyn is aspirating, all of her liquids have to be thickened now. It is a bit inconvenient and I’ll admit sometimes she has her milk without anything to thicken it, but for the most part we are getting used to doing it. Hopefully she will outgrow this soon.

During the sleep study, apparently Madalyn’s O2 sats were going pretty low and they had to give her oxygen. She had several episodes of apnea. She wasn’t breathing out the way they wanted and there was some concern about her exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide.

Her total sleep time recorded was 117 minutes!! (See I told you it was an awful night!!)

From that short amount of time, they decided she needs to be back on oxygen at night (which we are doing), needs her tonsils and adenoids out, and even recommended that she see a pulmonologist (I refuse to freak out about this one). I believe her lungs are working fine.

If anyone has been through this (and/or the swallow issues), I would love to hear your thoughts!

I think that Madalyn’s night was so NOT typical of her normal sleeping, and that she was seriously stressed just from the environment and having all those wires attached to her body. (It made me claustrophobic just looking at her!)

I am not saying that their results are wrong. We are following through with their recommendations. Like I said, she is back on O2 at night. And we will call to schedule the tonsil surgery even though I do not want to see her have to go through another surgery... But does the stress of the whole experience play a part in the results of a study like this? I would love to hear opinions and experiences of you who have been there done that!

Good News Good News Good News

Make sure you read all the way to the end of this post. There's a video at the end I KNOW you will really enjoy. You may recognize this little boy and girl even.

Anyway...

On Wednesday of this week, I started a post about 3 little girls that are close to my heart. Three little girls that have been waiting a very long time for a family.

All three girls are five years old or will be 5 very soon. Three sweet girls who are in three different countries.

I uploaded the pictures, then got busy and had it on my TO DO list to finish. So now I am finishing the post I started.

All three girls need families. Need them.

This is Carlene. She turned 5 last December. She has already been transferred to an institution. :((

Isn't she just gorgeous?

And here's Nellie. She will be 5 in November. She is facing the institution very soon I'm sure.

Doesn't she just look like a spunky little one? She's so darn cute!

So many prayers have been said for these girls. And God has heard them! Yay!!

In the last 2 days, families for both Carlene and Nellie have committed to adopting them! That is amazing news!!! So so very awesome! Praise God!

And then there is Hailey. She just turned five 8 days ago. She is still waiting...

I think this little girl is so beautiful!!

Please lift up some prayers for Hailey. Please pray that her family will realize that she is the one for them!

You can even donate to her adoption grant. Every little bit will help her family bring her home sooner.

Oh and just for some perspective.

I saw this video of a little girl who is 5 years old, just like Hailey and Carlene and Nellie. This little girl has Down syndrome just like Hailey and Nellie and Carlene. This little girl was blessed enough to be born, just like Hailey and Nellie and Carlene. But this little girl was blessed enough to be born here in the United States, not in Asia or Eastern Europe. She is learning and growing and being loved by her family, unlike Hailey or Nellie or Carlene.

This is what Hailey and Nellie and Carlene should be doing as well... Hanging out and playing with their big brother. Not hanging out in a crib alone somewhere...

Just saying...for perspective.

A chance to win an IPAD 2 and Help a deserving Family

We have met alot of wonderful people and became friends with many of them during our adoption of the girls last year. Some online and some in person! One family I became acquainted with because we were so close to traveling at the same time is the Wojcik family. They were in process to adopt this little sweetheart named Milana!

They got to Ukraine ahead of us by a few weeks, so as we were excited and anxious to leave last August, we got to enjoy reading their blog as they met Milana for the first time. So sweet!!

I think maybe we passed each other in the air as we were headed to Ukraine and they were finally getting to go home with their little girl! :) Ha! I was so bummed that I was not able to meet Milana and her family in person! Maybe someday... maybe at the next Reece's Rainbow reunion.... :))

Here is Milana now!

What a cutie!

Look at what amazing changes she has made in just under a year! This is why having a family is so important for these little ones!

And here is Milana with her Mom and sisters!
Don't you think they need a little boy in their life??!

I sure do! So I am trying to help them raise funds for their 2nd adoption.

The lucky little guy has not been revealed yet, but they need to raise $5000.00 as quickly as possible. This little one's file is available for only a limited time, so they need to have the money to commit to him within the month. Once his file goes back, it would become much more difficult for them to commit to this particular child.

If you have an extra $10 that you could donate to help this family, that would be awesome! Plus you will receive an entry into their IPAD 2 giveaway! A WIN WIN for everyone! Here are more details about the specifics:

$10 - 1 entry
$20 - 4 entries
$50 - 10 entries
$100 - $25 entries

Please go and check out their blog for more details!

Psalm 139:13-16

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
